Nanne Grönvall has been a professional singer for over 30 years and has taken part in Melodifestivalen an impressive SEVEN times! And that’s not counting the songs she has written for Melodifestivalen as well.

Nanne started her singing career with the group Sound of Music and took part in Melodifestivalen two years running – in 1986 with the song “Eldorado” and in 1987 with “Alexandra”. Both times the songs came 4th.

In the Nineties Nanne, her husband Peter Grönvall and singer Maria Rådsten came together as the group One More Time. As well as a number of hits in countries around the world, they took part in Melodifestivalen in 1996. They won the contest with their song “Den Vilda” and went on to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest that year in Oslo. They finished 3rd with 100 points (an identical result and number of points to the Swedish song from the previous year) behind hosts Norway and winners Ireland.

Since the performance at Eurovision, Nanne has returned to Melodifestivalen a further four times. In 1998 she came 4th with “Avundsjuk”, a performance made more memorable by the purple wig and Mr Spock ears that she wore during the performance.

Before her next Melodifestivalen entry, Nanne headed across the North Sea to try to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision. She took part in Song For Europe with the song “Men” but finished (yet again) 4th.

In 2003 Nanne sang “Evig kärlek” in Melodifestivalen but failed to make it through the semi-final. She returned to form in 2005 with schlager stomper “Håll om mig”, finishing an impressive 2nd and losing out on top spot by just 3 points despite winning the public vote.

Nanne’s most recent Melodifestivalen performance was in 2007 with “Jag måste kyssa dig” where she made it to Andra Chansen but missed out on a place in the final.

Since then Nanne has continued to tour around Sweden, as well as performing in musicals and theatre productions, and presenting a radio show. Nanne also took part in Let’s Dance in 2015, the Swedish version of Strictly Come Dancing.
